Building the railroad from surf to Gaviota was no easy task for the Chinese brought here to accomplish the job.
Chinese crew builds the railroad from the surf to Gaviota, the most difficult terrain on the entire road from Los Angeles to San Francisco. Railroad track, cart, man and mule stand in gulley below platform that bridges two hills. Additional people are on the platform and hillcrest.
